Top 5 Tuesday – Books You Wish You Could Read for the First Time Again

Happy Tuesday! Today I’m participating in another round of Top 5 Tuesday. This meme was started by Shanah at Bionic Bookworm and is now hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads. She came up with some great prompts for April, check them out here!

The topic for this week is “books you wish you could read for the first time again.” There’s not much else to say here, so let’s started!

1) Little Fires Everywhere

From the secrets, to the suspense, and the lies this book had all of the ingredients to make it an instant favourite for me. Since I’ll never be able to read this for the first time again, I’ll have to settle for re-reading it at some point.

2) The Heatwave

I feel like this isn’t the last time I’m going to bring this book up, sorry not sorry. The Heatwave was a five star read for me AND I’m obsessed with the cover. I wish I could read it for the first time an infinite number of times.

3) Ninth House

I read this in 2019 and I remember being glued to it. I wish I could read it again for the first time for two reasons. One, so I could enjoy it all over again and two, because a sequel is expected to come out this year so I need a refresher. Ninth House was unlike anything I’ve ever read before, the world building was so interesting and I loved the combination of fantasy with dark academia!

4) The Marrow Thieves

The Marrow Thieves is an emotional and unforgettable adventure that can be read as an allegory for how colonization has impacted Indigenous peoples in North America. It has a cast of characters that will warm your heart. I cried at least once when I read this and I would subject myself to that again because I loved this book.

5) Pulled Under (Sixteenth Summer #2)

This list wouldn’t be complete without a love story. In Pulled Under, shy surfer girl Izzy meets Ben, a cute boy visiting her beach town for the summer. Sparks fly and Izzy has to decide if she should let him get close to her, or push him away to save herself from heartbreak. I couldn’t get enough of books like this when I was a teen and I’d be lying if I said I’ve outgrown them now.

    1. I liked your review for The Starless Sea! Somehow I never had a Percy Jackson phase, but I wish I could read the Hunger Games and Divergent series again, no shame haha

      2. I can’t do Stephen King either and this definitely isn’t on that level. As far as I remember I didn’t feel disturbed reading this, hope that helps haha
